6 Butler Building Offerings You Didn't Know Existed

When most people think about Butler Manufacturing buildings, they picture industry-leading roof systems like the MR-24® or the versatile Widespan™ structural frame. But what many building owners don’t realize is that Butler also offers a unique line of accessories as well as products supplied by top-tier manufacturing partners to make your building stronger, safer, and more efficient—often in ways you didn’t even know were possible.

From fall protection systems to daylighting panels and custom roof curbs, these are the hidden heroes behind Butler's long-lasting performance. Here are 6 Butler building products and compatible solutions you probably didn’t know existed—but definitely should.

1. SKY-WEB® II Fall Protection and Insulation Support System

One of the most innovative safety solutions in metal construction, SKY-WEB® II is a passive fall protection system installed just below the roof. It protects workers during construction and remains in place to support roof insulation after installation.

It features a high-tensile nylon web grid designed to stop falls and reduce injuries during roof work. Once the building is complete, it doubles as an insulation support system, helping your thermal layers stay in place and maintain performance.

Note: Note: SKY-WEB® II is a proprietary system owned by Butler Manufacturing and is fabricated and supplied through licensed distributors, including Bay Insulation Systems, Silvercote, and Therm-All. The nylon mesh itself is produced using DuPont™ nylon for superior strength, UV resistance, and durability. Each system is engineered to integrate seamlessly with Butler roof structures and complies with OSHA guidelines for passive fall protection.

2. Butler-Compatible Roof Hatches and Wall Access Doors

Need safe, code-compliant access to your roof or mechanical areas? Butler-compatible roof hatches and wall access doors are designed to integrate cleanly with Butler roof and wall systems without compromising weathertightness.

These hatches and doors are fully engineered to match the slope, panel type, and thermal performance of your system, and they install without field modifications—unlike generic aftermarket options.

Why it matters: Properly integrated hatches and doors protect the building envelope, ensure long-term performance, and help you meet OSHA and building code requirements.

3. Factory-Engineered Roof Curbs

Most roof leaks happen around penetrations—especially poorly installed curbs for vents, fans, or skylights. Butler eliminates that problem with its patented, factory-engineered Internal Flange (IF) roof curb system.

These aluminum curbs are custom-fit, seamed directly into the MR-24® roof panel, and use interior fasteners that prevent leaks. The design allows for thermal movement, preventing the curb from stressing the surrounding panel system.

Why it matters: 80% of leaks on commercial buildings happen at roof penetrations. Butler’s curb system helps eliminate that risk.

4. Ridge Vents and Continuous Ventilation Systems

Proper ventilation can make or break your building’s thermal performance. Butler offers ridge vent systems that are factory-fabricated and color-matched to your roof system. These vents install seamlessly and help release trapped heat and moisture from the attic or upper interior space.

Available in both intermittent and continuous configurations, they improve air circulation, protect insulation, and help reduce cooling loads.

Pro tip: Ridge vents can significantly improve air circulation and are often combined with Butler-compatible insulation systems for optimal thermal performance.

5. Unique Flashings for Roof Penetrations

When pipes or conduits need to pass through the roof, you need a watertight seal that can move with the roof system. Dektite® flashings, for instance, are conical, flexible boots that seal tightly around circular penetrations.

Unlike rigid flashings, these can flex and stretch as the roof expands and contracts, keeping your building sealed against the elements. They're an often-overlooked detail that can make a big difference in long-term performance.

Note: While not manufactured by Butler, Dektite® flashings are often used in Butler installations.

6. Slope Build-Up Retrofit Systems

Have a flat roof that's causing ponding issues? Or maybe you want to upgrade your look? Butler offers engineered slope build-up systems that allow you to add pitch to an existing flat roof without removing the current one.

These structural retrofit solutions add drainage, reduce leaks, and make it possible to install an MR-24® or other standing-seam system. They also create opportunities for adding new insulation and improving energy efficiency.
